Basics
When you use Levant vACC services, there is information sent to us that we use to collect
statistics, analyze trends, and provide services to you, and the facilities that make up Levant vACC.
Levant vACC is a subdivision of the VATSIM network,
operating under the VATMENA (Middle East and North Africa) Division.
Levant vACC is responsible for providing ATC services for Lebanese, Syrian, and Iraqi airspace.
Information We Collect
To help enhance the Levant vACC experience, we collect information across a series of products
and services all to enhance the user experience. We collect information in the following ways:
Information you give us. When you register an account with VATSIM and transfer
to VATMENA/Levant vACC, login to the Levant vACC service, take a quiz, use our training systems,
book ATC positions, or participate in events, information that is generally considered personal
is given to us from you and VATSIM to include, but is not limited to: your name, email address,
VATSIM CID, rating, and division/subdivision information.
Log Information. Each time you perform an action on Levant vACC services, your
action is logged. Information logged can include: type of action, data being sent and received,
IP address the request originated from, software used to make the request, identification cookies,
and the results of the request.
Location Information. Your location information may be associated with each request
through geolocation against the originating IP address, information given to us by you or given
to us by you through VATSIM.
Controller Activity. We collect information about your controlling sessions including
positions staffed, connection times, callsigns used, and statistics related to your ATC activities
within Levant vACC airspace.
Discord Integration. If you authorize Discord integration, we may collect your Discord
username and server membership information for the purposes of sending notifications and managing
roles.
How We Use Your Information
To help enhance the Levant vACC experience, we collect information across a series of products
and services all to enhance the user experience.
We use the information collected to provide, maintain, protect and improve our services including:
Authenticating your identity and managing access to controller resources
Displaying controller statistics, awards, and activity tracking
Managing ATC event bookings and sending notifications
Providing Discord notifications about ATC coverage, events, and achievements
Analyzing trends to improve our services and understand usage patterns
Communicating important announcements related to vACC operations
Ensuring compliance with VATSIM policies and Code of Conduct
The information we collect is maintained with confidentiality to the extent possible. The following
information is shared with Levant vACC associated facilities and staff:
Activities performed with the Levant vACC web services
Controller statistics and training records
Event bookings and position assignments
We may store identification tokens and other limited information on your electronic device through
web storage or cookie usage.
Who We Share With
The information we collect may be shared, in limited capacities, with the following:
Virtual Air Traffic Simulation Network (VATSIM) - As required for network operations and compliance
VATMENA Division - Our parent division for divisional coordination and reporting
Levant vACC Staff - For training, event management, and administrative purposes
Discord - When you authorize Discord integration for notifications and role management
Law Enforcement Agencies - If legally required or requested
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.
Cookie Usage
We use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit and use a Levant vACC service.
This may include a cookie or other similar technologies to identify your browser or device.
Our cookies are mainly used as a means of tracking users across the Levant vACC domain. This allows us to
know who is requesting and using our services, provide authentication and authorization checks to restricted
areas, and maintain your session.
Types of cookies we use:
Essential Cookies - Required for authentication and basic website functionality
Session Cookies - Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser
Persistent Cookies - Remember your preferences across sessions
You may choose to disable cookie usage via your browser, but doing so will prevent access and use across
restricted areas of the website and severely degrade your experience.
Right to be Forgotten, Data Rectification & Access
As a subdivision of VATMENA and the VATSIM network, you are entitled to the same rights as provided to you by VATSIM.
Request for Access
You have a right to access your data and view the data collected on you. This data will be released
to you on written request to jordan.townsend@vatsim.me.
Data requests will be honored and delivered within one month (30 days). In the event Levant vACC cannot
meet the one month timeframe, Levant vACC will email you prior to the due date for a further two month
extension from the time of your initial request.
Only personal information relating to you will be delivered. To protect the privacy of Levant vACC staff
members, the names of individual staff members making entries on your training records and other security
measures may be redacted.
During the period in which your data access request is being processed, processing of your data may be
restricted, and this may limit your ability to use certain services.
Right to be Forgotten (Data Erasure)
Under GDPR Article 17, you have the right to request erasure of your personal data in the following circumstances:
The personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected
You withdraw consent and there is no other legal ground for processing
You object to the processing and there are no overriding legitimate grounds
Include your CID and specify what data you want erased
We will respond within 30 days with confirmation or explanation of any limitations
To completely delete your VATSIM account:
You have the right to request your data be erased from the VATSIM systems. This will result in the
termination of your membership of VATSIM. To deactivate and delete your information contact VATSIM at
https://support.vatsim.net
Requested deletions during a suspension period will be processed after the suspension period has been fulfilled.
VATSIM, after processing your request, will forward it to VATMENA and Levant vACC for processing and removal.
Limitations to the Right to Erasure
We may be unable to fully erase your data in certain situations:
VATSIM Network Requirements - Historical controller statistics may be retained for network record-keeping
Legal Obligations - Data required to comply with legal or regulatory obligations
Legitimate Interests - Archived statistics used for historical records and trend analysis
If we cannot fully erase your data, we will inform you of the specific reason and what data must be retained.
Your Rights Under GDPR (EU 2016/679)
If you are a resident of the European Union ("EU") or the European Economic Area ("EEA"), you have certain data protection rights under GDPR. If you are a resident of the United Kingdom ("UK"), you have equivalent rights under UK GDPR.
If you are not a resident of the EU, EEA, or UK, you still benefit from these rights according to this Policy (with the exception of the right to raise a complaint with a supervisory authority).
Legal Basis for Processing
Under GDPR Article 6, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
Consent - You have given clear consent for us to process your personal data for specific purposes
Legitimate Interests - Processing is necessary for our legitimate interests in operating the subdivision
Compliance with Legal Obligations - Processing necessary to comply with VATSIM and VATMENA policies
Performance of Contract - Processing necessary to provide services you've requested as a member

Right of Access (Article 15) - Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to Rectification (Article 16) - Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
Right to Erasure (Article 17) - Request deletion of your personal data (see "Right to be Forgotten" tab)
Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18) - Request that we limit how we use your data
Right to Data Portability (Article 20) - Receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
Right to Object (Article 21) - Object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing
Right to Withdraw Consent (Article 7) - Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent
Right Not to be Subject to Automated Decision-Making (Article 22) - Not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing
Right to Lodge a Complaint - File a complaint with your local data protection authority (EU/EEA/UK residents only)
We will respond to your request within 30 days as required by GDPR.

For EU/EEA residents: If you are not satisfied with our response to your GDPR request, you have the right to lodge a complaint
